Hello, I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to NH Outlook. This week Portsmouth will celebrate the art of filmmaking with the 7-th annual New Hampshire Film Festival. Some 60 films from more than 12 states and six countries will be screened around the city. Outlook's Phil Vaughn sat down with the festival's director to find out more about one of the largest film festival's in New England. |

The film festival begins Thursday and runs through Sunday. Some three-thousand people are expected to attend. |

For the second year in a row a New Hampshire poet has been named U-S Poet Laureate. Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Charles Simic is the Library of Congress' 15-th Laureate. Simic-- an English Professor at UNH for more than 30 years-- takes over the post in mid-October. Writer and humorist Rebecca Rule interviewed him in front of an audience in 2006 at the UNH Dimond Library. Here are some highlights of the interview. |

Simic takes over as U-S Poet Laureate from New Hampshire author and poet Donald Hall. Hall had been Poet Laureate for the last year.
